Here you can read all about Got To Get Out. Enjoy!
This week, the Herald launches a series called You’ve Got To Get Out and … in which Robert Bruce provides a guide for some of his favourite places to explore.
Robert Bruce had a high-paid job which involved lots of parties, drinking and stress.
But you wouldn’t recognise him these days. He’s given it all up to take groups on adventures around New Zealand.
And he’s lost the stress and 30kg in doing so.
The Cape Brett Lighthouse walk is a must do for those who’ve got to get out and experience stunning scenery, along with a decently hard 16km trek to get the blood pumping.
Where is it?
Cape Reinga is well known as the furthest tip of the North Island.
Thousands of visitors drive there each day, but why not walk it?
For this adventure, we started at Spirits Bay and walked three days past the Cape, to end up at the Te Paki Steam.
Mt Pirongia is a fantastic adventure destination for those wanting to get off the beaten track and don’t mind some uphill slog.
Where is it?
Mt Pirongia is found south of Auckland on SH32 in Pirongia Forest Park.
Turn off SH39 onto Te Pahu Rd, first left on Hodgson Rd then turn left into Grey Rd and follow to the carpark at the end.
