When you’ve #gottogetout, you need nuts! (+WIN)

Got To Get Out is an adventure club / social enterprise that’s all about getting people active, outdoors, seeing the world and making friends. We’re on a mission to get as many people as possible off the couch, off their phones, and into nature as possible.

This month Got To Get Out have had adventures all over the country, doing something epic pretty much every weekend.

Adventurers have hiked to  the Cape Brett (DOC) hut (Bay of Islands, NZ), climbed to the summit of Rangitoto Island, and helped plant over 2500 native trees in the stunning Tawharanui Regional Park, north of Auckland for TOSSI.  Check out the photos (and like our page if you haven’t already) here.

For all this adventuring, there’s a few things you need to take with you if you are heading out into nature – and having the right nuts is high up there on the list.

Gear:

The first thing to take with you on adventures is of course the right gear.

Depending on the weather and your location (you should always check well ahead of time) you may need

  • Sun protection (e.g. clothing, hat, sunglasses)
  • Cold protection (jacket, base layers, warm socks, avoid cotton, beanie)
  • Wet weather gear (jacket, pants)

You also need the right shoes or boots, depending on how much weight you are carrying and how long you intend to be on your feet + what the terrain is.

We recommend Torpedo 7 for all your adventure/outdoors gear.

Nutrition:

As well as good kit, you need the right nutrition to keep your energy levels high especially during long or overnight walks, such as our hike to Cape Brett which was a gruelling 7.5 hours of hills on the way in to the hut.

You burn a lot of energy hiking, especially when you are carrying gear.

A recommended ‘must pack’ item for snacking on the trails and to keep your energy up, is nuts.

The advantage of taking nuts on our (or any) adventures is they are:

– high energy

– low fat

– light

– small to pack

– easy to share! (at Got To Get Out we always share something at lunch time).

We’ve been eating Nutters nuts recently and we can vouch for the fact that they are really delicious and full of energy.

The range of Nutters products are easy to find (on promotion at the moment at your local Countdown) and come in a variety of flavours such as Nutty Deluxe, Off the Wall-Nuts, Bare All Almonds and Cranberry Nut Crash.

Nutters has a snack for every occasion – whether you’re watching a movie at home, in need of a post-workout snack, or just wanting a mid-arvo pick me up.

You can get Nutters at Countdowns around NZ  – or you can WIN some below!

If you want to get your hands on some free delicious Nutters nuts, post a photo of you getting out into nature – and you will go in the draw to win 1 of 5 Nutters Prize packs. Be sure to let us know which snack pack you’re keen to try! (view the range here)
